Chapter 11: The Drive Home  Dmitri was waiting by the car, and his expression was blank as he watched us approach. I caught his eye over Xenois's shoulder, and something in his eyes told me he was as confused by this change as I was. "Everyone ready to go home?" Dmitri asked softly, keeping in mind the kids who were already dozing, and gently opened the car door. "More than ready," Xenois replied, as he carefully dropped Lake into his car seat before helping Troy and Soren with theirs. I slid into the seat beside him, and immediately felt his presence wrap me as I inhaled shakily.  The moment the car door closed, his hand found mine, our fingers intertwining in a way that both felt foreign and right.
