Chapter 117
Haley’s POV:
“Logan, stop,” I whispered, grabbing his arm, my fingers tightening around his jacket sleeve.
We had barely made it out of the building and already, he was on the phone again, giving orders, shifting schedules, demanding updates. His jaw was locked, his tone sharp. Everything about him screamed fire and finality.
“I mean it,” I said again, tugging his sleeve harder until he finally looked at me.
“What?” His brows were furrowed, chest still rising and falling fast. “What’s wrong?”
I glanced around the empty corridor, lowered my voice. “You don’t have to fight everyone, Logan. We don’t have to declare war.”
His eyes didn’t soften. “I’m not fighting everyone. Just the people who think they get a say in who I love.”
I let out a breath, my hand still gripping his. “Can we talk about this later? Somewhere quieter? You just—”
“I need them to know I won’t be swayed,” he cut in. “I can’t give anyone the wrong idea, Haley. Not my father, not the press. Not even you.”
