Chapter 130
Sebastian’s POV:
The sun was dipping low when we pulled into the driveway, the salt still clinging to my skin. Jordan was laughing in the backseat with Lily about some dumb joke from earlier, while I was still half in my head about how… easy the day had felt. Haley’s laugh had been softer than I remembered, her smile unguarded when she looked at Jordan.
It had been… nice. Too nice.
We stepped inside, the cool air of the apartment greeting us. Susan’s heels clicked on the hardwood before I even saw her. She was home early, wearing a fitted black dress and an expression that didn’t give away much.
“You’re back,” she said, her eyes darting briefly to Lily. “Where’d you all go?”
Before I could open my mouth, Jordan beat me to it.
“We went to the beach!” he said, kicking off his sneakers with zero awareness of the storm he was about to unleash. “Lily swam for the first time—Daddy helped her—and guess what? We ran into Mom! She bought us barbecue and everything. We had so much fun.”
