Chapter 19

I didn’t tell anyone I was leaving. Not Sebastian, not Jordan, not even Joey. I packed what little I had into two suitcases and left the house before dawn, the sky still cloaked in darkness. My mother’s apartment welcomed me with its familiar scent of jasmine and old books, totally different from the coldness that had seeped into my own home.​ The apartment was modest, a two-bedroom on the third floor of an aging building. The walls bore the memories of my childhood, the scuff marks from years past still visible. However, the moment I stepped into my mother’s apartment, I knew I am going to get the comfort I had been hoping for. My Mom is still at the hospital. Her condition is a lot better than before still she needs to be under observation and for the first time in my life I was relieved that no one is home.
