I had never been to my ex-husband’s engagement party before.
Well, I never thought I’d ever have to go to one.
But there I was, standing beside Logan, holding his arm gently, dressed in a soft ivory gown that hugged my waist and flowed down to the floor. My hair was curled and pinned up with little pearl pins. Simple, elegant. Like I wanted to disappear into the background but still be polite.
Logan wore a tailored black suit with a grey shirt underneath. No tie. He looked calm, but his hand never left the small of my back.
“You okay?” he whispered near my ear as we stepped inside.
“I’m fine,” I said, offering a small smile. “Just… strange being here.”
He nodded. “We’ll stay for a bit, then leave. Just let me know.”
