Chapter 72
After years abroad, Quentin had seen it all. So, Abigail's charming little act was hardly new to him. Besides, he hadn't lied. This was the only bag his mother would actually like in the entire mall.
It wasn't that he lacked gentlemanly manners, but it was just that he had spotted the bag first. More importantly, this was his first gift to his mother since returning to the country. So, he couldn't afford to get it wrong.
"Is that so?" Abigail lowered her head, already working out her next move.
She hadn't expected Quentin to be completely immune to her tricks. But if Plan A didn't work, it was time to move on to Plan B. Either way, she wasn't leaving without that bag.
She looked up again, a new idea forming. "With a son as handsome, accomplished, and devoted as you, your mother must be the luckiest woman in the world. My mom, on the other hand, hasn't been so lucky."
She sighed. Her eyes then welled up with tears and turned red. It was a picture of pure sorrow.
