Chapter 19
The hospital corridor was busy with patients and their families. They stole glances at the scene unfolding.
"Doesn't she have a boyfriend? And this guy's still proposing? He's got guts, I'll give him that," someone whispered.
"Look at those bruises and the hospital gown. Maybe her real boyfriend was the one who put him in here."
"Honestly, if he messed up and she's moved on, why is he still begging for forgiveness? There are plenty of fish in the sea, man."
None of their comments seemed to affect Julian. He remained on one knee, looking up at Ivy with sincerity.
"Marry me, Ivy. I love you. You're the only one I've ever truly loved. I've gotten over Sophie for good. I swear that I've spent the last few days thinking it through."
Lucas nearly lost his cool and looked ready to take another swing at Julian. However, Ivy quickly held Lucas back, shook her head, and shielded him with her body. Then, she turned to Julian, her expression icy as she brushed the ring away.
