"Yeah yeah, that's nice, but you're not exactly mobile right now," Lucas said with a persistent face. "But it's cool—if you really wanna go, I'll carry you on my back."
Oliver was done arguing. He didn't say a word, just turned around and walked off. Lucas was about to follow when Elaine called out to him from behind, "Hey, Young Master Evans, back from school?"
Lucas immediately lit up when he saw her. "Auntie! Don't always call me 'Young Master'—makes me feel ancient! Just call me Lucas, like my mom does."
Elaine chuckled awkwardly, not really knowing what else to say.
Then Lucas suddenly pulled a long face, looking a little troubled. "Auntie, Oliver said he wants to go to school tomorrow."
"That's great news," Elaine replied readily. She'd already overheard their conversation earlier.
But just a second later, Lucas slapped his chest with pride, his energy instantly back. "Don't worry! I'll keep an eye on him and make sure he's okay."
