Elaine decided to just pretend none of that had happened and sneak back into her room. Once that door was locked, she could finally sleep in peace till morning. What's going to happen tomorrow? Well, that's tomorrow's problem. At the moment, there was no better plan. Just as she turned off the computer and was about to tiptoe back to her room, the study door creaked open. Standing there, of course, was Marcus. "What are you doing, Audrey?" he asked, voice low and eyes sharp. Elaine snapped on an awkward smile. "I'm not sleepy yet. You go ahead, I'll mess around on the computer a bit and then go to bed." But Marcus was not someone she could brush off so easily. Trying to sound serious, she added, "I promise I'll be super quiet.
