Especially under the current circumstances, Elaine really didn't want to run into Marcus. Just the thought of facing him made her feel super uneasy—it was like guilt was written all over her face the second she saw him.
But then...
"Ma'am, I made your favorite—the roasted chicken glazed with honey mustard. Come try it," Mrs. Thompson said as she carried the dish to the table.
Elaine's eyes lit up. Maybe this was something she could work with.
If daytime doesn't work, then night it is. Worst-case scenario... a little sleeping pill in his dinner. Once he's out, everything else becomes a piece of cake.
Elaine startled herself with how shady that sounded. But hey, if it got the job done, being a little shady wasn't the end of the world.
She cleared her throat and turned to Mrs. Thompson. "Mrs. Thompson, I think I'll take this up to Mr. Sinclair."
Mrs. Thompson looked genuinely thrilled. "Perfect! Let me give him a call so he doesn't head out for dinner."
"No, don't!" Elaine quickly cut in.
