Chapter 14 Teaching the Ex-Fiancé a Lesson

Brian Mosley froze in shock at the sight of those three words. He never imagined—never in his wildest dreams—that this matter could be tied to Violet Leach. With a tense, stormy face, Brian answered the call. "Was it you?" "Mm." Violet admitted. "You—" Brian's fingers trembled with rage. "Are you connected to Hacker J?" "Not really. I just got lucky once and happened to help her." So she *was* connected to Hacker J! Why had she never told him before? "You're quite the schemer—such deep deception!" Brian spat sarcastically. "Hah, is that scheming? I helped her once and promised never to tell anyone. That's called keeping a promise. Besides, doesn't everyone have secrets? Just because you were my fiancé, does that mean I have to tell you everything?" Brian had no reply. Violet wasn't done. "And before you accuse me, do some self-reflection. Have you been honest with me? Let's not even start on your mistress—that alone proves your character is flawed!" Brian's narrowed eyes flashed with dangerous light. "A mistress? How dare you use that word to insult her? The kind, gentle person you used to be is long gone. Blame me? Blame Evelyn? If it weren't for your constant schemes against Evelyn, making me lose faith in you over and over, would you be here today? Blame your own cruelty and venomous heart!" Violet had explained too much, cried too many tears—only to be met with Brian's cold indifference in the end. So now, she couldn't be bothered to waste her breath. "I didn't have Hacker J hack your company's system just to argue with you." "Do you want me to leave Evelyn? Want to reconcile and remarry? Hmph! Not a chance!" Brian snapped. Violet rolled her eyes. "What would I even do with a clueless fool like you? Slaughter you for the Lunar New Year?" "You—" "Don't ‘you' me, and don't flatter yourself. Listen—go to the hospital now and apologize to my brother, or I'll hand your company's secrets to your rivals." "Dare you!" Brian shot up, roaring. Violet laughed, her voice laced with amusement. "Why don't you test your luck? Go ahead—see if I'm bluffing?" Brian clenched his fists, jaw grinding so hard it almost squeaked, as if he wanted to tear Violet apart. "Violet Leach, you're truly vicious!" "Flattery. Compared to Evelyn Conrad, I'm still a step behind. Don't believe me? Fine. Don't worry—it won't take long for you to see just how dark Evelyn really is." "Violet! If you harm Evelyn, I'll make you regret being born!" Brian screamed. Violet pulled the phone away, rubbed her ear, then said coolly, "Brian, listen. Right now, *you're* the one at my mercy—I'm the knife, you're the fish. Speak politely. If I'm unhappy, I won't even ask for your apology—I'll leak your secrets right now." Brian seethed, but dared not lash out. The memory of Violet's sudden change at the hospital still haunted him. Evelyn said Violet might have broken down mentally. So he didn't dare provoke her—what if she actually leaked the secrets? The company would suffer massive losses. "Fine. I. Will. Apologize." Each word ground out between clenched teeth. As soon as Brian spoke, the laptop screen returned to normal. Benjamin Cook got a call. "Everything's restored? Good." "Boss, the system's fully back online." Brian slammed his fist on the desk. Being at someone else's mercy felt damn unbearable! Half an hour later, Brian arrived at the hospital and bowed to Caleb Leach. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have let anyone touch you. I'll cover all your medical expenses." Caleb stared at Brian, stunned, mind blank. After Brian left, Caleb called Violet immediately and told her everything. "Violet, was this you?"
