Chapter 56
I didn’t find Uno in the living room, so I walked through our rooms. His room was widely opened but he’s not inside. I couldn’t hear a water running from his shower room either. Where was he then?
I continued walking and into my room, my eyes instantly found him, and I am relieved when I saw him sitting on my bed, legs crisscrossed and a sketchbook on his lap. He was so into whatever it was he was sketching that he didn’t hear me entered the room.
I took a few steps toward him until I was closed enough to see his drawing. In the corner of the page was a boy sitting curled in on himself as a dark figure hovered above. The dark figure, which could only be described as some sort of monster, or a demon, has its hand stretched out toward the boy. It seemed to be using a power to hurt the boy, or steal something from him. I imagined that monster as Kate.
My heart clenched painfully as I realized what Uno’s drawing represented. He was the guy in the picture, sitting there while his heart got ripped, broken…by me.
No. no. no.
“Uno?” my voice came out much weaker than I wanted, but it still caught his attention, knocking him out of the little bubble he was currently sitting in.
“Ashley..” he said my name in surprise, jumping slightly. His eyes were bloodshot and puffy, and I fight the urge to run to him and wiped his tears with my kisses. He had been clearly crying. Did I make him cry?
I blinked my eyes a couple time and brought my focus back to him, who I now realized was saying something to me. “What?”
He let out a small sigh. “I asked if you are okay?”
“Oh,” I said, feeling stupid for spacing out on him. Now’s not the time to get caught up in my own thoughts. “Yes, I am good now. Listen Uno, I-“
“Good, I’m glad you’re feeling better now,” Uno stated, interrupting the list of apologies and explanations and confessions that were on the tip of my tongue. He took his eyes away from me and focused back on his drawing, moving his pencil around in angry strokes.
“What are you doing here in my room?” I asked.
“I missed you...” he whispered, not looking at me
My stomach dropped and I sucked in a deep breath to center myself. Right now wasn’t about how I feel. This was about fixing our relationship.
“Uno, you have to know that I—“
He cut me off again mid-sentence, not looking up from the sketchbook sitting on his lap. “Can we not do this right now?”
“Uno, what the hell?”
“What?” he yelled, throwing his sketchbook against the wall. The sound of hitting the wall before falling to the ground startled me and I jumped slightly. He stared at me with wide eyes, his chest rising and falling as he panted. Uno pulled at his hair for a moment before he laid his head in his hands. “I’m sorry,” he whispered, barely loud enough for me to hear.
That’s all it took for me to close in the rest of the distance between us. I sat beside him and without hesitation, I pulled him close into my arms. He sank into the warmth of my body as I tightened my arms around him.
“I am so sorry.” Uno whispered again, his voice muffled as he talked into my chest.
My heart ached as he apologized to me, because what on earth does he have to be sorry for? “Sssh Uno,” I lulled into his ear. “You have absolutely nothing to be sorry for.”
He pulled apart from me to look up into my eyes. His bottom lip was trembling slightly, letting me know he was trying not to cry. I brought my thumb up to his face and ran it across his dried tear track causing him to close his eyes at the motion.
Even with his blotchy cheeks and puffy eyes, he was still the most beautiful guy I have ever laid my eyes on. I leaned forward to connect my forehead with him, our noses just barely touching and I closed my eyes. “Tell me what you feel, Uno.”
He took my hand in his and squeezed it tight. “I feel so stupid,” he confessed, “and hurt. And I guess I am a little angry, but not at you.”
“Who are you angry at?” I asked.
“Just this whole situation. I am mad at Kate for manipulating me. I’m mad at myself for letting her do this to me, and for not treating you fair.”
“Baby, no, please don’t say sorry for that. I am the one who needs to say sorry. I never should have run and should have understand Kate’s situation. I know you’re caught up in the situation. I should’ve known better. I should be the one to understand you.”
My hand slid down from his cheek and made its way to rest on his neck. I ran my fingers through the strands of his hair that laid there, and I smiled looking into his beautiful eyes.
This time his lips curled up into a real, genuine smile. He leaned forward, and this time instead of just connecting our foreheads, he connected his lips to mine. His lips were so soft as they moved slowly against mine, and I got lost in the taste of him. I opened my mouth slightly and Uno let his tongue filled in the small gap I left. It was a slow, intimate kiss full of love and adoration.
Uno separated from me, his lips just hovering next to mine. “I love you, Ashley.” He breathed, his voice low.
I smiled and before I could response to him, he leaned back again to capture my lips. He moaned into my mouth, sending vibrations that travelled all over my body.
I bit down gently on his lower lip. “I love the way you’re always nibbling on your lip.” I mused as I pulled away.
He let out a groan as his lower lip slipped through my teeth. I moved to kiss at the side of his mouth. “I love the sounds you make, Uno.” I whispered against his ear.
My kisses trailed down, moving from his mouth down to his jawline before resting on his neck. “Wait, Ashley.” He blushed when my hands travelled down south to his damn hard manhood.
