Chapter 88

Do you believe in love at first sight? Well, I do not. Why? Because love at first sight was the experience of starting to be in love with someone as you saw them for the first time. Really? I couldn’t just fall in love with the person I had just met. I claimed it as infatuation, high passion in the absence of intimacy and commitment. How about annoyed at first sight? Well, I do. Why? Because the first time I saw Kate, annoyance did strike me. Annoyance hit me whenever I see her baby face. Her face was so innocent, so angelic that you wouldn’t think that she was a raging insane psycho. At first glance, she looked like someone who wouldn’t hurt a fly or any kind of insects but in reality, she was the evilest of all evil. As I stayed behind Uno, I watched her eyes watered. I fought the urge not to smile and kept chanting this mantra in my head because I was literally two seconds away from actually smirking and laughing my ass off. I knew we fucked up. Our plans had ruined because Kate heard us. She heard everything inside the cubicle. “How could you do this?” she told Uno as she looked at him with hurt and pain in her eyes. And then I couldn’t control myself anymore and burst out laughing. Kate was talking like Uno and her were in a relationship and their conversation will lead to a break up of some sort. I continued laughing like I was a fucking insane, holding my stomach. Both of their heads snapped to mine and I tried to shut up. Uno’s face was void of any sort of emotion. Kate, on the other hand, now had tears streaming down her face making me stop from laughing. “Kate—“ Uno began to talk but Kate raised her hand to stop him and turned to me with a murderous glare. I glared back at her and crossed my arms over my chest, smirking. I knew our plan had ruined but I won’t let her ruin my relationship with Uno. We will still find some ways to get her to the mental hospital! Geez! “You’re a whore!” she burst out suddenly. Instead of getting mad, I smirked at her not showing that her words affected me. This wasn’t the first time someone had called me a whore. I was used to it because Lily always called me that where in fact, she was the one who suit the name perfectly. I knew Kate wanted to evoke some anger or something from me but I wasn’t going to give what she wanted, what she needed. “Are you talking to yourself, Kate?” I asked in triumphant when I saw her turned red. “What did you do to Uno?!” Kate screeched, her voice raised in a high tune. “Lower down your voice, Kate! For pete’s sake!” I winced and gave her a scornful look. Uno who was standing beside me, moved closer to Kate and held her shoulders, “Kate, you listen to me.” he stated firmly. Her teary face looked up at him like he was telling him she needed comfort, she needed hug from him. But Uno’s grip on her shoulders tightened, holding her in place when she tried to move and hug her. “Uno…” she whispered. Her eyes pleading. “Kate, I want you to know that Ashley didn’t force me to do anything. I wanted it all.” Uno told her and her eyes got wider, her fingers fiddling on Uno’s shirt. “I wanted it.” “But…Uno… What I heard in there, it wasn’t you.” She whispered. “It wasn’t the Uno, I know. You talked different, you talked like you’re hungry for sex.” more tears streaming down from her eyes. Uno blushed hearing her statement and awkwardly scratched his nape. “Kate, what we do is not any of your business. No one asked you to stand outside and listen to everything. Do you have to interfere with everything Uno decides to do?” I told her. “You fucking whore! You changed him! You changed my Uno!” she shouted angrily. “He was sweet. What I heard in there wasn’t Uno!” An annoying laugh bubbled from my mouth. “Well, if you didn’t like what you heard and if you feel like your dear Uno has changed, why don’t you leave him alone for once?” Kate yanked away from Uno’s hold and turned at me, a hand raised to slap me but Uno was quick to stop her. My eyes trailed his broad back as he blocked her. “Kate stop! You’re getting ridiculous!” Uno’s tone was beyond done. He was fed up. Honestly, I would’ve been fed up a long time ago. “Why are you defending her?” Kate shouted in exasperation. “She changed you! You’re not the same Uno I knew! You’re not the same guy who loves me, who cares for me! Why are you always siding with this whore!” “Shut up, Kate! Shut up!” Uno exploded and both of us were startled and stiffened. I swear I felt the walls shake with this loud voice. “Who told you that I love you? Stop being so delusional, Kate! I love Ashley, and not you! I want her, not you! Do you understand?” Silence filled the air. Awkward silence. You could even hear a needle drop in the silent hallway. “Uno…” Kate was totally shocked. “See what she did to you?” “I’ve been like this eversince, Kate. Don’t blame her for my behaviour because I am showing you the real me.” he let out a heavy sigh. “I-I don’t know what to say.” Kate whispered. “How about you show Uno your phone?” I asked, still glaring at her. The thought that she could’ve easily taken some audio recording of Uno and I’s adventure in the ladies’ room passed through my mind right away. Uno nodded, realizing that there could be a possibility. “I didn’t do anything.” Kate frowned. “How could you think of me doing such a thing?” “I know you did it before, and you can do it again.” Uno gritted his teeth and Kate’s eyes widened then glared at me. She thought I wouldn’t dare telling Uno about the video. I smirked at her. “Show me your phone.” Uno demanded, raising out his palm in front of her. Kate rolled her eyes and passed her phone to him. I watched Uno as he went through the contents of Kate’s phone and he sighed in relief when he didn’t find anything. He looked at me and shook his head, negative. “I’m sorry I was harsh to you.” Uno gave back her phone. “But that’s how it is right now. I need you to understand for me. I need you to accept that I love Ash and that she’s now my… girlfriend. Please, Kate.” He pleaded softly. “No! Never would I understand how you fell in love with this shit! We were perfect for each other! We were destined to be together, forever. I will marry you, Uno. I will give you kids. Unlike her that probably has a million of virus running in her veins because she’s a whore who touched by every guy she wanted! I’m a virgin, Uno! I will—“ “Shut the fuck up!” I pushed her on the wall. “Uno will never love you! You can’t force her to love you!” “No!” she pushed me back. I would have fall back if Uno didn’t hold me from behind. “You keep your mouth shut! Why did you have to come into his life! You did this to him! All of these started after you came!” “Kate, I’m warning you. Stop this already! And don’t you dare talk to Ashley like that!” Uno got close to her, his huge body immediately hiding her little one from my view. “Uno, please…” she cried. “Let’s get back together. Leave her and come back to me. Think about us, our future together.” Uno shook his head, lowering his gaze. “How could we get back when right from the very start, there’s no us. There was never an us, Kate.” Kate nodded, wiping her tears. She nodded, accepting that she didn’t have any chance for Uno, anymore. “Okay.” And then she turned her back and walked away. After she was out of sight, Uno turned around and pulled me to him, his arms wrapped around me in a tight hug. “I’m sorry, baby.” I hugged him back and smiled into his neck. “I’m fine, Uno. Don’t worry. I’m glad you stood up against her this time.”
