"I feel much better," I say, hoping the nurse would understand what I mean and then take off the needle sticking in my arm.
"Of course you are," her response is sharp and proper. Almost as if she had been warned I might try something like this.
"Then why am I still confined to the bed and have this needle sticking in me?" I ask, and she looks down at me briefly before she presses her lips together and shakes her head.
"Once the doctor clears you, I will be sure to take it out," she responds, and I sigh. "Your mom is going to be okay," she said out of the blue. Of course, by now, the entire nation knew that something was wrong and not the way it was supposed to be.
"Did my husband ask you to say that?" I murmur, but the look on her face tells me that I had hit the nail on the head.
"I am sorry, Mrs Moreaux; I did not mean to make you uncomfortable," she stuttered, and it made me wonder. What had Drexon done? Why did she seem like she was shrinking into herself?
