Chapter 174

LUNETH I hear the gunshot lingering in my ears and the ringing sound that followed. For a moment, all I saw was black nothingness, but the muffled sounds of Marcy and Drexon screaming in my face suddenly refocused my vision. "Luneth? What happened?" Marcus asked. I opened my mouth to speak, but I could not; my legs buckled under me as I fell to the ground and began sobbing very loudly. They stare at me, and Drexon begins to dial the number of the guard who had been assigned to her. The only problem was that I heard the trilling sound of ringing, but it was not connecting at all. "My mom... gunshots," I managed to say in between sobs. I sit there crying my heart out, hoping my mom would just appear out of nowhere and everything would be fine, but it does not happen, and no matter how many times I try to call back, it almost seems like a waste. "Calling her now would be useless because she is going to deny this, and we know well that there is no link between her and the texts," Marcus sa
