Chapter 36
LUNETH
Drexon seemed prepared in case this would happen; he signals, and one of the bodyguards that I had no idea was following us shows up in front of me.
"Get the madam a pair of comfortable shoes from the car," Drexon said and the man was out, reappearing later with a pair of slippers. I look at him but before I can even react, Drexon has handed him the pair of shoes I had been wearing and now replaced it with the new slippers. The man was out of sight once again.
"What just happened?"
"I told you that we have bodyguards all around." His response only makes me want to know who else is following us. "They are too good; I don't think you'd be able to fish them out," he says as if I had said that I was searching for them out loud.
"I am not looking for them," I lie. I wonder when I became a great liar, when the words slip out of my mouth before I can even think of them.
"That is a lie," he says, stretching his hand towards me. I stare at it before taking it, and he helps me to my feet.
