Levi had taught her to question everything, but even so, she didn't want to doubt the people around her.
"Alright, words alone don't mean much. Let's pull up the security footage. That'll show whether or not you actually passed out in the back garden the entire time yesterday," Maeve said.
"What?"
Before Paul could react, Maeve had already called Hackett Manor's security room.
When no one answered, she dialed Kieran's number instead.
He picked up and said, "Ms. Scott, is something wrong?"
"Kieran, I need to review last night's footage from the garden at Hackett Manor."
Kieran said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Ms. Scott. The surveillance system is still down for maintenance, so we can't access last night's footage."
Maeve's gaze darkened and said in a low voice, "I see."
She hung up, and Paul asked, "So… now what?"
Maeve stared at him briefly, as if debating something, before letting it go. "You…"
"Me?"
"Forget it.
