Chapter 651

The door burst open with a kick, sending Julian scrambling to pull up his pants in a panic. "Who the hell is it? Who dares to ruin my fun?" he barked. But his bluster died instantly when he saw Liam standing in the doorway, his face dark with fury. "M-Mr. Larson!" Julian stammered. He swallowed hard, his legs turning to jelly as he collapsed to the floor. Seeing Liam's arrival, Maeve felt a surge of relief wash over her. Finally, he had arrived just in time. "Mr. Larson… This has nothing to do with me! It's all her fault! She seduced me!" Julian muttered, pointing shakily at Maeve, who lay on the bed. Yet, Maeve's appearance told a different story. One hand was cuffed to the bedpost, her face streaked with tears, and her clothes had been torn to shreds, barely covering her chest. As she hastily tried to cover herself, the cruel marks of a whip became visible on her arms. Julian's accusations stuck in his throat. With her current state, no one would believe that Maeve had been the one seducing him. It quickly dawned on him that he had been outmaneuvered by Maeve. "Mr. Larson! I've been loyal to you for years, you have to believe me!" Julian pleaded, pointing a trembling finger at Maeve. "It was… it was her! This woman, she—!" Before he could finish, Liam had already drawn his gun. Without hesitation, he fired a shot into Julian's leg. The loud bang echoed in the room, and a moment later, the searing pain in Julian's leg hit him like a freight train. His scream was piercing, like a pig being slaughtered. Liam stepped forward, aiming at the handcuff binding Maeve to the bed, and shot it off with a precise move. He then draped his jacket over her shoulders and gently lifted her into his arms. Outside the room, no one dared to stand in his way or offer help to the injured Julian. As Liam carried Maeve out of the room, the maids in the hallway whispered among themselves, speculating about what had just occurred. With her plan unfolding successfully, Maeve couldn't help but tremble in Liam's arms. Liam frowned as he looked down at her. "Are you that frightened?" he asked. She wasn't frightened but overwhelmed. Liam coming to her rescue meant that she had found a place in his heart. For someone as ruthless as Liam, it was rare for anyone to hold a spot in his affections. After this incident, she no longer had to fear for her life around him. Liam carried Maeve to his bedroom. Unlike Julian's room, Liam's was spotless. It was bare, devoid of any decorations. There was no television, no computer, and not even a single book in sight. The space was so empty it barely seemed livable. Suddenly, an image of Zion's home flashed through Maeve's mind. The first time she visited Zion's place, it looked just like this. Outside, a maid knocked on the door. "Mr. Larson, Ms. Scott's clothes are ready." "Bring them in," Liam commanded. The maid entered and set the clothes down nearby. Without looking up, Liam told Maeve, "Change into these."
