Chapter 653
Tessa pushed the door open and stepped inside. She was shocked at the sight of Liam. "Mr. Larson…"
"Help her get dressed," Liam ordered, then turned and left the room.
After he was gone, Tessa rushed over to Maeve with tears welling up in her eyes.
"Ms. Scott, are you alright?" she choked.
"I'm fine, nothing serious. Thank goodness you understood my signal," Maeve reassured her.
Her gaze fell on Maeve's arm, and she whispered, "Ms. Scott, your arm…"
"Don't worry, I did it myself," Maeve replied calmly.
"What?" Tessa gasped in shock. "Wasn't it Mr. Hartman who…?"
"He's not that strong. It'd be ridiculous if a simple push from him dislocated my arm," Maeve explained.
She knew that if she hadn't taken matters into her own hands, Liam might have investigated further and suspected her of setting a trap.
Being vulnerable and mistreated right under his nose was far more likely to elicit Liam's protective instincts than being scheming.
If Maeve were found out, any favor she'd gained with Liam would vanish.
"Ms. Scott, I know you did this for me. I'll keep your secret." Tessa promised earnestly.
Maeve nodded in response. "Good, just make sure you remember that."
With Tessa's testimony, the injuries Maeve had sustained in front of Liam, and Julian's reputation as a lecher, there was no way Liam would believe anything Julian said now.
…
Meanwhile, in another part of the ship, the doctor had just finished dressing Julian's wounds. Two mercenaries entered without a word and dragged him out.
On the deck, Liam looked down at the now-bound Julian with a cold expression.
"M-Mr. Larson… I swear, I'm innocent! That woman seduced me! Mr. Larson, if you investigate, you'll see the truth!
"I've been loyal to you for years. I'd never lie to you!" Julian pleaded, his panic clear in every word.
Liam raised an eyebrow as he slowly approached. "How many times have I said it? No one touches my prey."
His words made Julian tremble, fear flooding his veins as cold sweat dripped from his brow. "Mr. Larson… I swear, I didn't mean to… I wouldn't dare…"
"You have the guts, and I admire people with courage," Liam uttered.
"Mr. Larson…"
"But I don't like liars," he added.
"Mr. Larson, I swear I didn't lie! I didn't!"
"I've already investigated. I saw everything with my own eyes. So tell me, how do you plan to prove your innocence?"
"The CCTV… There's footage! The cameras…" Julian's words trailed off as he realized there were no cameras on the ship.
Seeing Liam's chilling smile, Julian's heart sank in terror.
"M-Mr. Larson…" he stammered.
"While there's no surveillance, there are plenty of witnesses," Liam said nonchalantly. "Bring them in."
"Yes, Mr. Larson."
Soon, all the maids on the ship approached. Each one was a victim of Julian's threats. Seeing them, Julian felt the cold grip of despair tighten around him.
Liam leaned back lazily and asked, "So, tell me, what happened?"
