Chapter 702
Three employees nearby were gossiping openly, unaware that Charlie had fixed his gaze on them. When they finally noticed him approaching, their faces turned red with a mix of shyness and anticipation.
But Charlie soon pointed at them and said coldly, "You three, you're fired."
As a shareholder and board member of Mirage Group, Charlie was typically known for his friendly demeanor, especially towards women.
This was the first time anyone had seen him lose his temper at work.
The three employees stood frozen, utterly baffled by their sudden dismissal.
Charlie escorted Maeve and Lyra into the building, muttering under his breath, "What's going on with HR? If I hear any more gossip, they're all out."
His outburst sent the remaining employees scurrying away in all directions.
Just then, a voice from outside caught Maeve's attention.
"Good morning, Ms. Ramoz," the receptionist greeted Clara warmly as she entered.
Clara's gaze immediately fell on Maeve, who stood in the lobby.
Maeve looked different today from her usual casual self. She had an aura of cold elegance as if she had taken extra care with her appearance.
Remembering the humiliation from the night before, Clara felt a surge of irritation rise within her.
She glanced at the dispersing crowd, her brows knitting together in annoyance. "What's all this fuss about? Who's causing a scene this early in the morning?"
"Well, Ms. Ramoz, it seems you've grown quite bold," Lyra commented with a mocking smile, her gaze fixed on Clara intently. She figured Clara had found some newfound courage.
But Clara was no longer intimidated by Lyra. She sneered, "Ms. Jansen, were you the one causing the ruckus just now?"
The other employees remained silent. They were accustomed to seeing Clara dressed like a high-society heiress.
But today, standing next to Maeve and Lyra, her usual shine seemed to dull, making her appear more like a pretender. Her words, too, lacked authority.
"Ms. Ramoz, it was me." Charlie turned to face her.
When Clara realized it was Charlie who had caused the commotion, she scoffed, "And here I was wondering who it could be. What brings you to Mirage Group, Mr. Foster? Don't you have enough to handle at Foster Group?"
A collective gasp rippled through the nearby employees.
Charlie's role as a shareholder in Mirage Group was no secret, both within the company and beyond. For the past year, he had been actively involved in its operations, far more than just a passive board member. Yet, Clara seemed completely unaware of this.
Noticing the uneasy glances from those around her, Clara began to feel increasingly uncomfortable.
Charlie raised an eyebrow and turned to the receptionist beside Clara, stating, "Why don't you explain to her why I'm here?"
The receptionist hesitated, clearly trying to spare Clara any embarrassment, before whispering, "Ms. Ramoz, Mr. Foster is one of our shareholders and also the chairman. He's likely here for an inspection today…"
In terms of hierarchy, Clara was technically Charlie's subordinate. The irony that she didn't even know who her superior was, was absurd.
Maeve watched the scene unfold with a faint smile. She had thought Clara had put in significant effort for Mirage Group, but it turned out she didn't even know who truly held power in the company.
Clara's expression faltered momentarily, but she quickly composed herself. "I didn't realize you're on our board, Mr. Foster. I'm new here and still getting familiar with everyone. My apologies."
Just as Charlie was about to respond, a chilling voice echoed from the doorway. "If you're truly sorry, then you should resign."
Heads turned toward the source of the voice.
Zion walked in, clad in a rare black suit, accompanied by a team of senior secretaries from the Spencer Group. His presence caused a palpable stir among those present.
So, this was the infamous, ruthless leader of the Spencers they had all heard so much about?
