Chapter 6

Eloise packed all the gifts from Jeremy. She called the movers and had them delivered to Scarlett's address. She had decided to give these now-worthless memories to Scarlett since Scarlett coveted everything that belonged to her. On that night, Jeremy hurried home earlier than usual when he received news of Eloise's actions. When he got home, Eloise had just finished burning her diaries from her schooling years. Waving his hand in the air, he frowned at Eloise. "What are you burning?" She coldly watched the embers die before replying, "It's some trash." Her dull response frustrated him. Loosening his tie, he irritably yanked her up from the ground. "Wyatt and the gang are back in the country. They invited us to go skiing." He stubbornly tried to drag her along. Halfway, he worriedly turned around, picked up the metal container, and threw it into the dumpster outside. "If it's trash, you should take it out." Eloise took one last mocking look at the metal container. Those yellowing pages ultimately didn't survive being read. … Wyatt Cole had been waiting for a while when Jeremy showed up with Eloise at the ski resort. He threw himself at Eloise, only to be stopped by Jeremy. Wyatt was upset that he didn't get to hug Eloise. "Jeremy, I thought you were only acting as a married couple with Eloise. Why are you being so possessive? Can't I hug Eloise as her friend?" An awkward expression flashed across Jeremy's face, but he quickly recovered. Sounding disdainful, he retorted, "Am I possessive? You must be joking." "Anyway, Eloise has been quite argumentative lately. I'm just protecting you from her sharp tongue." Wyatt cast her a confused look. She remained expressionless. "Eloise, did Jeremy upset you in any way?" Wyatt asked. Eloise pressed her lips together. Before she could organize her thoughts, she heard a voice. Jeremy suddenly left her side and walked away. He returned with an arm around Scarlett, chatting and joking with her. Wyatt arched a brow in amusement. "I have never seen Jeremy so into a woman!" Eloise's gaze briefly swept past Jeremy and Scarlett before looking away. She went away to store her stuff in the locker. Scarlett followed along, slamming her hand on the locker door next to Eloise's compartment. The metal rattled loudly. "Ms. Loughlin, why did you send me a bunch of used trash? Was that an act of provocation?" Eloise slowly raised her head and stared at the smug look on Scarlett's face. "Move!" Instead of getting angered, Scarlett laughed loudly at Eloise's lack of reaction. Slowly, she pulled out a watch from her shirt pocket. That finally elicited a response from Eloise, who paused in shock. "Where did you get that from?" Eloise's late grandma had gifted her the custom-made watch on her wedding day. Not long ago, Jeremy had sent the watch to be repaired after its strap snapped in half. She had waited for the watch to be returned, and she was about to ask him for it. Now, the watch had shown up in Scarlett's possession. Scarlett's laughter grew when Eloise finally showed some reaction. "Mr. Gibson gave it to me because I liked it." Furious, Eloise tried to grab the watch from Scarlett, but Scarlett dodged the move and stepped back. Scarlett deliberately toyed with the watch and checked it out. "Why would you care for such a shabby piece?" Eloise balled her fists and bellowed at Scarlett, "Hand it over! That's mine!" Scarlett raised a brow. Eloise seemed truly angered this time. She pouted. "It looks so outdated. I couldn't care less about it. Here. I'll give it back to you!" Despite saying so, she flung the watch outside. The watch sailed across the air and dropped to the ground from the third floor.
