I sighed.
Just how obsessed with Jonathan had I been for everyone to refuse to believe that I truly wanted to divorce him?
"Let's stop talking about him. It's annoying," I said, cutting him off.
"The reason I wanted to see you is to thank you for saving my life that day. Tell me straight—what do you need me to do?"
Frederick raised an eyebrow. "You're up to do anything?"
I answered sternly, "As long as it's not illegal, and it's in my power."
He looked like he had lost interest. He stared at me for a moment, then suddenly frowned. "Why do I feel like you're different from before?"
"Am I?"
I ran my fingers through my hair. Other than Gabrielle, I didn't particularly want anyone else to know that I had amnesia.
Besides, I didn't even know what relationship I had with Frederick. Gabrielle had told me that he had pursued me before, but I had rejected him, and that alone seemed awkward enough.
