Chapter 23
My disdain for Jonathan was obvious.
He looked at his hand that I had shaken off, and his eyes darkened, a storm brewing in them.
He stared at me unblinkingly, and there was only silence and a chill remaining between us.
Alicia suddenly looked at me very apologetically. "I'm sorry, Ms. Sawyer. You got injured because you were in the pool too long that day, right? It's all my fault. If Jonathan hadn't saved me first, you wouldn't have needed to go to the hospital."
With eyes full of worry, she sighed before continuing, "Nearly drowning and choking on water isn't a small matter. You should get Jonathan to take you to the hospital and get checked out again!"
It would've been fine if she hadn't mentioned it, but the moment she did, all I could think about was the humiliation I had suffered that day.
