"Achoo!" That night, Mila's head started feeling heavy, probably because she was caught in the rain that afternoon. She was clearly getting symptoms of a cold. Joshua hadn't been trying to scare her when he told her that her immune system was completely paralyzed. Her health was now so fragile that it could not withstand any stress at all. Mila was afraid that Emma would worry, so she hid in the corridor outside as she sneezed several times in a row. However, she could not leave for too long. She went to the pharmacy to buy some medicine, which she took before returning to the hospital room. Emma's face was pale and bloodless because she was sick, and she had lost a frightening amount of weight. This upset Mila. For as long as she could remember, her mother had been the only person in her life. She had never seen her father, nor did she know who he was. When she was younger and was teased by her classmates for being a bastard child with an unknown father, she had asked Emma ab
