Mila asked casually: "What happened?" "Ms. Lewis vetoed every single project that you've planned! She didn't keep any of them!" Mindy was obviously hiding out in the restrooms to complain, and she kept her voice very low. Mila was startled. "She vetoed all of them?" "Yes, all of them, including the AI project and gaming project that you had the highest expectations for." Mindy was exasperated. Mila frowned and asked, "What did Mr. Hall say?" "He said nothing." Mila's mind went blank, but she soon understood. Matteo knew very well whether or not those projects were worth investing in. He had only kept silent because Penelope was the one who was vetoing them. He was helping her establish her authority so that everyone in the company would think highly of her and obey her. He was protecting her, just like he always did. "Has someone put a curse on Mr. Hall? Why is he just letting Ms. Lewis call the shots?" Mindy was full of frustration and had no one to vent to except Mila.
