Penelope left with Matteo, looking delighted. She clung to his arm and said, "Matt, you really went all out. Honestly, a family dinner should be simple. We didn't need to come to such a fancy place."
She was being sensible, poised, and perfectly tactful. Matteo seemed pleased with her grace, and his voice was noticeably warmer than it had been when he was dismissing Mila. "It's the right thing to do."
