Wilson pushed Shawn away.
Derrick had been standing on the highest moral ground, as if he were simply scolding his nephew for being a disgrace. But in truth, he was only doing it to vent for Melanie.
Shawn was already beaten half to death, and all he could do was crush him psychologically.
Melanie was waiting outside the examination room, scrolling on her phone. When they came out, she slipped it away and smiled sweetly at Derrick. "Mr. Quinton, Little Scholars Preschool has accepted Louisa. She can start tomorrow. Thank you."
Her tone was genuine, not the least bit flattering.
Derrick turned his head, the tips of his ears burning red. "You deserve it. Don't think you can charm me with that smile."
"Oh." How was she supposed to explain that she wasn't charming him? But by now, she was used to his way of thinking.
After a few steps, Derrick asked, "Weren't you going to see a doctor for a checkup? What did they say?"
