Chapter 12
At first, Julian looked at me in shock. Then, his usually emotionless eyes lit up with a smile.
"What are you thinking about?" He stroked my hair, adding, "I was asking whether you need me to fire her. I've never looked into your past, so I don't know about your relationship with her. But she's clearly malicious. If she affects my fiancée's mood, then I'd make sure she never shows up in front of you again."
I was stunned.
I had had some physical contact with Julian ever since we got engaged. We slid rings on each other's fingers during the engagement party, then hugged and kissed each other on the cheek. I took his arm whenever we took a stroll in the garden after dinner at the Stirling residence too.
But this was the first time he had made such a natural and affectionate move.
That suddenly reminded me of the beginning of my relationship with David. He had stroked my hair after I confessed my feelings to him and said, "Silly, I should be the one confessing to you."
