Author’s POV.
Alex stared at her like she didn’t mean a thing. His face was blank, completely void of emotion—but his heart? His heart was in so much pain. He was trying so hard to look like the bad person he wanted to be.
He carried nothing less than hate, and Travy feared to believe what her eyes were reading. But his heart was damaged. He wished he hadn’t met her today. He wished he’d met her days later—days when he might’ve healed a little, away from her.
Without saying a word, he slipped his hands into his pockets and walked away.
Travy’s hand gripped his wrist, pulling his steps to a halt. Her heart pierced, sinking into her stomach.
He turned to her, shut off his wrist, and glared.
“You didn’t give me a reply.” She tried not to sound broken, but her voice betrayed her. It came out so shaky, it broke his heart even more. But he was determined to do this—for her, for himself, for Axel, for all of them.
“I do not have words for you, Tracy.”
