Theo pushed the deal through against fierce opposition, using his considerable influence to carve out a significant portion of the A-City land for me. He even transferred twenty-five percent of the Lewis family shares into my name. The dividends alone would ensure a life of luxury.
They all wanted to make amends, as if money could erase the scars they inflicted.
I didn't hesitate. Let the Lewis clan curse me as a scheming witch; I took what was offered and walked proudly out of their headquarters.
"Ali!" Theo caught up to me outside, grabbing my arm. "I gave you everything you asked for. Does this mean... you forgive me?"

"Truly?" Hope flickered in Theo's eyes.
