Cassie groaned. “I love Declan like a brother, but he is not relationship material. Please tell me you are not falling for him.” “I’m not falling for him,” Chloe said absolutely lying through her teeth with all the acting ability she could muster. Cassie stared at her for a moment before sitting back in her chair with relief. Chloe was a little hurt by her reaction. Would it be so bad if she and Declan made something real out of their pretend romance? Did Cassie’s reaction mean that she didn’t think Chloe was good enough for Declan? Feeling suddenly very insecure, Chloe stood. “I just need to visit the ladies’ room,” she said and walked away from the table without waiting for a reply. “That is going to end badly,” Declan heard Becky say as he approached their table.
