Chapter 9 I Need Proof
To figure out what kind of unfair contract I'd signed, I decided to go "undercover" and sneak back to that so-called home.
On the day I was discharged, Grant's assistant, Cameron Parrish, came to pick me up. The way he looked at me was full of pity.
"Ms. Leavitt, Mr. Walton hasn't been in a good mood lately. So… try not to set him off."
"Cameron, what kind of person was I before?" I asked curiously.
Cameron let out a sigh. "You really loved Mr. Walton back then. You did everything he wanted and never lost your temper. Since his stomach was sensitive, you cooked for him yourself every day…"
It sent a chill through me.
Was that really me? That sounded like a doormat.
When we got to the apartment, Grant wasn't there. Following Cameron's directions, I walked into "our home".
