Chapter 13-2
The banshee seemed to take a moment to assess the situation, its head twitching to the side and sniffing at the air once more. But the damage was done, and suddenly the revolting creature opened its mouth wide and screamed its ungodly scream; showing off its uneven set of thin razor sharp teeth and its long, meaty tongue which was still covered in fresh blood.
The silence that fell afterwards vibrated the air in sheer volume, and for a split second I prayed that my earlier irrational hopes would come true that the banshee was in fact alone. But the universe wasn't so kind, and it didn't take long before the distant sounds of multiple, mirroring screams could be heard ringing from deep within the trees.
It was calling for back up.
"Go!" I commanded Joel loudly, removing my hand from Hannah's mouth just as he practically yanked her back and forcibly carried her to the tree-line, "Everyone, get ready. We can't let them get to town!"
