Chapter 6

Yael had noticed Selena from the beginning when she got off the taxi because she was so beautiful. Although she was the least dressed among all the female guests, she had a fascinating charm that he just couldn't resist. She looked comfortable and at ease with herself. Compared to Jasmine, she was weak, but she was also tough. A kind of tenacity with a hint of calmness. Yael glanced from the rearview mirror from time to time with appreciation. Although the other party was motionless and seemed to have paid his existence no mind, he couldn't figure it out, but being with her like this somehow made him feel happy. Selena motionlessly stared outside the car's window. The neon lights outside were shining, but to her eyes, it was as if all the colors had been washed away and everything was gray and dark. "Can you stop the car?" Selena suddenly asked when she saw a particular sign flashing outside the window. Yael was startled and instinctively stepped on the brakes. Did she find out that he was peeking at her from the rearview mirror? "What's wrong?" Yael asked softly as he calmed his mind. "Sorry, I want to get off the car and buy something," Selena said, looking apologetic. "Do you need me to accompany you?" Yael asked with a smile. "No, thank you," Selena said as soon as the car stopped. She opened the door and got out of the car. Just two steps away, she heard Yael's voice, "Wait a minute!" Selena turned her head, Yael still had a smile on his face, "Write down my phone number, you can call me if you need anything or in case something happens." Selena looked at the other person's warm smile, and she didn't know what to say for a while. It turned out that there were still people in this world who could make people feel warm from the bottom of their hearts. She walked toward the corner where the car had passed with a faint smile, her anxiety was no longer in her heart. She didn't want him to see that she was here to buy emergency contraceptives. In fact, waking up in a mess this morning to visiting Pei's house and being humiliated and ridiculed by Jasmine, to the helplessness and uneasiness of facing the emergency situation just now, all disappeared after being treated with gentleness. Yael, thank you for your warmth. I can finally breathe easy now. Selena thought that this day, her greatest luck was meeting him. Back in the car, Yael scanned her entire body quickly without Selena noticing it, and quietly relaxed when she saw that there was nothing wrong with her. For some reason, at the moment Selena turned and got off the car just now, an idea came to his mind that if he didn't do something, Selena might have an accident. Fortunately, she came back in one piece and he was just thinking too much. Yael smiled and shook his head to get rid of his worries. After getting in the car, Selena looked up at the man in the mirror for the first time, and saw the warm arc of the corner of his mouth. There was a peaceful and serene atmosphere in the car for a while, it was neither awkward nor tense. It was an atmosphere that made people feel just right. There was silence all the way. When they finally reached the villa where Selena lived, the car slowly slowed down and stopped. Selena got out of the car and thanked him again for his kindness. "Ms. Pei, I hope we can become friends when we meet next time," Yael replied. "Oh, but I thought..." Selena stopped talking. Yael did not wait for her reply. He just smiled, and said, "I heard the most praise from others today, and although Ms. Pei's 'thank yous' are the best of them all, you don't have to be so polite with me."
