When Cassandra left the Dorsey residence, she felt as if all the strength had been drained from her body.
A moment ago, the fury had kept her going, but now that it had faded, she could barely stand.
She wobbled and almost collapsed, but instead of feeling pain, she found herself falling into a broad, warm embrace.
"Ryan?"
Ryan steadied her, holding her upright. "You were all fire and brimstone just now, and now, you've gone all limp?"
Cassandra tried to stand up straight, but the heels she wore felt like torture. She couldn't keep her balance and started to tip over again.
Ryan caught her and drew her back into his arms. "Alright, just lean on me."
Her head was spinning, and her face was as white as a sheet. Even her lips had lost all color.
Ryan picked her up in his arms and calmly carried her out of the Dorsey residence. "I'll take you back for some rest first."
