Chapter 65
Everything before her was white, but it wasn't the white of a wedding dress. It was the stark white of hospital nurses' uniforms.
A nurse was doing her rounds. Seeing Annabelle's frightened expression, she asked gently, "Ms. Green, did you have a nightmare?"
Annabelle nodded and, utterly drained, lay back down on her pillow.
Why would she dream about that dog?
Could vengeful spirits really exist in this world, coming back for revenge?
No. Surely not.
It was Simon who had poisoned the treats, and it was Cameron who had fed them to Snowball. She hadn't actually done anything. She'd only mentioned it on the phone to Grace.
She hadn't held a knife to anyone's throat or forced anyone to carry it out.
It had nothing to do with her.
Just then, the nurse spotted Cameron coming in. "Mr. Dorsey, you're just in time. Your wife was startled awake by a nightmare. Do go and comfort her."
The nurse greeted him with a smile, but Cameron's expression remained grim.
