Chapter 14
Peter felt like the only reason Frost came to this dinner was to get under his skin.
"You want me to marry Tara," he said.
He dabbed the corner of his mouth with a napkin gracefully. However, when he set it down, his hand accidentally tipped over his water glass.
The water spread across the table, dripping into Tara's clothes.
Peter stood up and said softly, "Go to the restroom and tidy up. Let's go."
His expression was hidden under his lowered gaze. At that moment, all he wanted to do was to get out of there, away from Frost's prodding.
Tara gently held his hand, looking a little anxious. "I won't ever marry anyone."
She forced out a smile and explained softly, "After what happened to me, who would still want me? Anyone who marries me would have their life ruined. A good man like Pete deserves someone better."
She seemed to summon up her courage as she looked at Frost. "So, please don't say anything like that again. You'll only make Pete uncomfortable. He's already done so muc
