The sting of Jessica’s slap lingered on my cheek, but it was nothing compared to the suffocating weight of her words. The room was a blur of flashing cameras and murmuring voices, each whisper a dagger aimed at my heart. I tried to steady myself, gripping the podium tighter, but my knees felt weak.
Jessica stood tall before me, her eyes blazing with fury. She turned to the crowd, her voice rising above the chaos. “This woman,” she spat, pointing an accusing finger at me, “has no shame. She tore my family apart and now dares to stand here and play the victim?”
