Eva's Point of View
The harsh fluorescent lights of the hospital corridor made my head throb as I paced back and forth. Sara and her mother sat rigid in the waiting area chairs, their faces drawn with worry. None of us spoke. The tension in the air was suffocating.
When Dr. Matthews had called earlier, requesting all of us to come immediately, my heart had nearly stopped. Something in his voice had sent chills down my spine. Now, waiting for him to appear, every second felt like an eternity.
The click of dress shoes against the linoleum floor made me freeze. Dr. Matthews approached us, his face grave. My stomach twisted into knots as he gestured for us to follow him to a private consultation room.
"Please, sit down," he said softly.
I remained standing, my hands trembling. "Just tell us what's happening with my father."
