Eva's Point of View
I never thought I'd end up here.
The guard pushed me into the cell without saying a word. The metal door made a loud bang as it closed behind me. I jumped at the sound, and my whole body started shaking. The cell was small, maybe eight feet by six feet, with gray walls that had little scratches all over them. There was a thin mattress on a metal bed frame, a silver toilet in the corner, and a small sink that was stained brown. The whole place smelled like bleach and something else - something that made my stomach turn.
I walked over to the bed and sat down slowly. The mattress was hard and made weird crinkly sounds when I moved. Through the bars, I could see other cells, but they were all empty. I was alone. The silence was the worst part. It gave me too much time to think about everything that had happened.

I remembered how cold Max had been when the police put the handcuffs on me, he just stood there, staring at the ground like I didn't exist.
