Ariana let out a soft chuckle.
She couldn’t pinpoint exactly when it had happened, but her heart had truly turned as cold and unyielding as stone. Maybe her mother was right—perhaps she was cold-blooded by nature.
Fanny hesitated, unsure of what to say. She wanted to cheer Ariana up, but Ariana’s expression was so calm, not exactly unhappy. What if she ended up saying something foolish and made Ariana feel worse?
