The morning sun streaming through my office window felt like a mockery of the chaos that had consumed my life in the past twenty-four hours.
I sat at my desk, staring at the reports Margo had brought me, but the words kept blurring together as my mind kept on wandering back to the impossible facts Dr. Martinez had revealed yesterday.

The sound of small footsteps in the hallway above reminded me that both boys were still in the house and they were still recovering from yesterday's accident.
