Chapter 328
More than ten years in prison, or even life?
Vera Doyle turned pale instantly. Her hands trembled slightly on her knees.
If Cassandra called the cops, they’d definitely dig up the truth. When they do it is just a matter of time.
Cassandra Taylor shot her a sidelong glance, eyes calm, then casually picked up her phone and called the police.
“No, wait!” Vera panicked, lunging forward to snatch the phone from her, but Cassandra easily dodged.
“What are you doing, Vera?” Cassandra said, feigning cluelessness. “If you didn’t take my card or transfer the money out, then the police should figure out where it went.”
“No—don’t call the police,” Vera’s voice shook, her face losing all color.
“Oh? My money was stolen. Why can’t I report it?” Cassandra raised her eyebrows, a soft, serene smile playing on her lips.
Feeling the weight of everyone's eyes on her, Vera suddenly wished she could disappear. Her cheeks burned with shame and frustration. Eyes downcast, she didn’t dare meet anyone’s gaze.
