Chapter 32
Back at the banquet hall, Cassandra found a quieter corner—she hadn’t had dinner yet and just wanted to grab a bite.
Out of the corner of her eye, she suddenly noticed Mara heading her way. Her expression instantly turned cold, and her grip on the wine glass tightened slightly.
Mara walked over gracefully, like she owned the place, stopping right next to Cassandra.
Her gaze locked onto the deep blue diamond set in Cassandra’s ring. Under the soft lighting, it sparkled with a mesmerizing, almost wicked beauty. Jealousy flickered in her eyes. Her desire for that ring was practically written all over her face.
“Miss Taylor, long time no see,” Mara said with fake warmth and a practiced smile.
“Not that long. We crossed paths just a couple of days ago.” Cassandra shot her a sideways glance. Her attention snagged almost immediately by the pendant around Mara’s neck—it was hers… from her past life.
For a moment, she had the urge to snatch it back without a second thought.
