Just as she was about to fight back and escape, a loud bang echoed through the warehouse-Leander kicked the door open like a scene straight out of an action movie. With two bodyguards at his back, he charged forward, landing sharp kicks that sent the thugs flying. He quickly took off his jacket, gently wrapping it around her, then scooped her up into his arms with extra care. Vanessa had hit rock bottom, but the second she saw Leander, it felt like someone had relit a dead flame inside her. Her eyes lit up, gleaming with disbelief and relief. Whatever the reason he wanted to marry her, in this moment, his care for her felt real. When she had no one, when she was trapped and terrified, it was him-of all people-who showed up like a damn miracle. If she agreed to the engagement before just to go along with things, now... there was at least a bit of sincerity in it.
