Vanessa hadn't expected the former chairman of Halewick Group to live in such a peaceful, tucked-away place. The yard was spacious, with a three-story cottage. The house wasn't flashy at all - vines crawled over the plain walls, and the garden was full of vegetables. It felt more like a cozy countryside home than anything grand.
Reginald walked in from the garden, holding a basket loaded with freshly picked cabbage, green beans, corn - the works.
Seeing Leander and Vanessa walk in hand-in-hand, he lit up. Raising the basket high, he grinned, "Heh, Grandpa's cooking today! Get ready for a feast!"
Even though they hadn't met many times before, Vanessa had always felt a kind of warmth and respect for Reginald from the start. She walked over without hesitation, took the basket from him, and said with a smile, "Grandpa, how about we save your chef skills for another day? Let me handle lunch
