The security at Halcyon Residences was top-notch. When Richard showed up with his wife and kids, they were immediately stopped by the well-trained guards-no matter what he said, they wouldn't let him in. Furious, Richard called Leander and roared into the phone, "Leander, you ungrateful brat, let us in right now!" He was shouting so loud that even Vanessa, sitting next to Leander, could hear every word coming out of the phone. Leander held the phone away a whole meter from his ear, giving it the same annoyed look he'd probably give his father. He waited until the yelling died down, then slowly brought the phone back to his ear and said lazily, "Doctor said Grandpa needs rest. Anyone not essential, just don't bother." Vanessa almost burst out laughing. Only Leander would dare to call his own father "nonessential." Richard's face must've turned green.
