"Not everyone qualifies to be a friend," Gabriel Wallace said, gently brushing Lilah Hart's cheek with his thumb, leaving his words hanging with meaning.

"Mr. Wallace, we’ve got in touch. Turns out, the boss truly didn’t know about this incident," the subordinate reported in a low voice, standing respectfully across from Gabriel’s desk. "They even personally delivered the person to us. Said we can handle it however we want."
Gabriel didn’t seem surprised at all. He signed off a few documents with a crisp motion, then looked up, his face still stone cold.
"What do you want to do with them, sir?" the subordinate asked, waiting on instructions.
Gabriel’s eyes took on a deadly chill. His voice was razor-sharp. "What do you think?"
"Understood. I’ll take care of it right away."
With that, the subordinate quickly turned and left.
Gabriel sat still for a few seconds, his face hard as ever, then stood and made his way out.
