"Yeah, can’t believe it’s been over twenty years already," Mrs. Thornton said with a sigh, looking rather nostalgic.
"So what made you two decide to come this time?" Gabriel Wallace asked, not letting it go.
Mrs. Thornton glanced at Maxwell Thornton and gave a slightly awkward smile. "No special reason really—just felt like visiting this place again."
"How long do you plan to stay?" he continued.
"You’re asking too many questions," Lilah Hart cut in with a playful glare.
But Mrs. Thornton just smiled warmly. "Since it’s a rare chance for us, we’re planning to stay about a week."
"Perfect! We can hang out more then," Lilah quickly chimed in, her tone cheerful.
She actually had a good impression of the woman—being around her just felt oddly comforting.
"Sounds good," Mrs. Thornton nodded with a smile.
Maxwell, as usual, stayed quiet and didn’t say much.
After dinner, Gabriel headed off to work. Lilah took Aiden out to the garden with the Thorntons for a walk.
