Chapter 24
Eliana couldn’t help but feel rather surprised when Aidan didn’t leave after Bryan had left; instead, the latter asked his secretary to send the documents that he had to look over for work to her room so that he could stay with her.
Eliana was absolutely exhausted and drained - there was nothing more than she wanted that to rest. However, she couldn’t help but feel wary and be on guard with Aidan in the room, glancing up at her from his work from time to time - it was at this moment did the former realize that the latter was doing this intentionally; getting on her nerves and keeping her on her toes such that she couldn’t get the rest that she so badly wanted and needed…
Dinner was served later that day - Aidan had Robert ensure that the chef prepare plenty of nutritious food for Eliana, especially since she’d just donated blood despite her already quite severely weakened state.
Even though Eliana had been rather picky with her food in the past, this time, however, she finished all of the four dishes that Aidan had ordered to be prepared for her - dishes that she would never have touched in the past. Aidan couldn’t help but raise a brow slightly at this - Huh. It looks like going to prison did teach her a thing or two after all...she’s not as picky as she used to be.
Just then, Aidan couldn’t help but recall the reason why Eliana had been sent to prison in the first place - he got so infuriated with this thought that he couldn’t help but throw the document that he’d just picked up angrily.
Eliana, who’d been peacefully enjoying her food this entire time, jumped slightly when Aidan suddenly threw his document against the table - she was afraid that the latter was going to start torturing her with his hurtful remarks again. The former couldn’t help but brace herself slightly as she prepared herself for the mental abuse from Aidan that she expected to entail.
Just before Aidan could do or say anything, Robert entered the room and asked respectfully, “Second Young Master, is there anything else that you need?”
Aidan glared at Eliana slightly as he muttered, “You’d better behave yourself and finish your food - I need you to be well enough to do the liver transplant. Don’t you dare try and pull anything funny.” He then turned to Robert and said, “And you - come with me. Let’s go.”
And so, Aidan and Robert walked out of Eliana’s ward - as soon as he closed the door behind him, Aidan paused for a moment before he spoke up, “I want you to send someone to investigate Olena Kiley.”
Robert couldn’t help but feel a little surprised at his orders, “Second Young Master, you want me to do that?”
“Is there anything wrong with asking you to do this?” Aidan shot back in a rather annoyed and irritated tone.
“Second Young Master - why can’t you just let it go? After all, the past is the past - I really don’t think there’s a need to…”
“No, I’m afraid I can’t do that.” Aidan cut Robert off before he could complete his sentence.
Aidan couldn’t help but irk and grimace in disgust at the thought of Eliana getting intimate with a woman - he couldn’t believe the sheer audacity and shamelessness of the latter.
“Find out more about this Olena Kiley for me - I want to know more about just who she is. And Eliana...she seems to thrive so well in prison, doesn’t she? That means that she probably wouldn’t mind if I were to see that she spends the rest of her life in there…”
Robert looked at Aidan uncertainly - he was uncomfortable with what the latter was saying; alas, he did not have the authority or the right to rebut or speak out against him. He had no choice but to stand there and obey Aidan’s orders.
“So are you going to get it done or what?” Aidan asked coldly. Robert immediately snapped out of his trance and bowed his head, “Y-Yes, Second Young Master, I’ll see to it immediately.”
Aidan paced up and door along the corridor for a while to calm himself down after Robert had taken his leave - it was only after he’d more or less simmered down did he return to Eliana’s room to find that she’d already finished her food.
She was out of bed, clearing and putting away the lunch box that she’d received the food in - seeing this, Aidan immediately surged forward to chide her, “Who said you could get out of bed to clean up? What if something happens to your liver? How are you going to take responsibility for that, hmm?”
Eliana couldn’t help but groan internally - Is he for real? What would simply getting out of bed to clear the lunch box do to my liver? He’s being so unnecessarily overdramatic…
“It’s alright, I’m used to it.” Eliana shrugged.
“You’re used to what?” Aidan asked icily.
“I’m used to cleaning up after myself - it’s what’s expected of us in prison,” Eliana explained.
Aidan couldn’t help but feel triggered all over again as soon as he heard the word “prison” - and so, he lunged forward to grab Eliana roughly by the arm as he growled, “You like living there so much, huh? You really can’t live without filth, can you?”
Eliana was taken aback by Aidan’s sudden change in mood - “What’s gotten into you, Aidan? Stop it, you’re hurting me?”
“What’s gotten into me?” Aidan scoffed as he shoved Eliana into the bathroom and took the showerhead, “You’d better take a shower and clean yourself up this instant - I can’t stand to see someone as filthy and dirty as you standing before my eyes, you’re ruining my vision.”
